Assignment 8

Since  Hamlet is a tradegy i feel it is befitting for this image to represent the story. It shows a grave digger and i believe this could be the scene where Hamlet finds out who the grave is for… his beloved Ophelia. This is one of the mail tradegys in the story besides Hamlets father dying.

The origins of many superstitions are based on trust in magic or chance. An irrational belief that an object, or action, or circumstance which are not logically related to a course of events can influence its outcome. Ignorance and fear of the unknown combined with a false conception of causation and cessation resulted in many Renaissance superstitions.  Fear of the supernatural and forces of nature or God resulted in the belief of superstitions during the Renaissance era. Many superstitions during the Renaissance period dated back to traditions and beliefs from much earlier times. The superstitions were also steeped in the belief in old magic and the mystical properties of animals and herbs. Renaissance superstitions also related to special chants, omens and names and numbers. Many traditional English customs are based on the mythical relationship to superstitions dating back to the Dark Ages and even further back to the Romans and their Gods and Goddesses.

assignment 6

i think that Dorothy can easily be interpreted to be a person or people could see her as themselves. Many kids our age could relate to her seeing as they are still on a journey and don’t really know where they are headed, and along with the other people in the story there are people who stand in our way and wishing for our demise and there are others who are always at our side and there for us.

Assignment 4

I went to google and googled it and was a little bit amazed at the results and at the same time I knew they would be bad. I looked into media effects on social groups and this paper was a real eye opener. It talked about how media influenced what women wanted to be. Its so surprising that these trends are going on and are encouraged. As a  teenage girl I know that I have felt the sting of looking at some other girl and thinking why cant i look like that, but i have never thought beyond that. The fact that some of these women not girls but women who know better are shoving their finger down there throat or not eating at all is absurd and all this is because the women on TV and in magazines are rail thin, cosmetically enhanced and airbrushed. I would think women who suffer from this and have a family tend to have a very stressful life with trying to make everyone happy and only digging herself in a deeper hole.
